Many hundreds of newspapers subscribe to Cagle Cartoons, which syndicates 12 columnists and 70 editorial cartoonists to hundreds of subscribing newspapers. This podcast gives a behind the scenes look at opinion journalism and gives listeners a chance to get to know the world’s great cartoonists.

For over forty years, Daryl has been one of America’s most prolific cartoonists. He worked for 15 years with Jim Henson’s Muppets, illustrating scores of books, magazines, calendars, and all manner of products. Daryl still sees pigs, frogs, Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock characters when he closes his eyes.
Daryl worked for many years as an advertising illustrator, doing cartoon campaigns for such clients as Discover Card, McDonalds, Sega and General Foods Post Cereals. Daryl drew a syndicated comic called “True!” in the 1990’s for Tribune Media Services. He worked as the editorial cartoonist in Hawaii for The Midweek and Gannett’s Honolulu Advertiser, then drew for the Washington Post’s Slate.com site and later as the cartoonist for msnbc.com.
In 2000, Daryl started a new syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, Inc. (www.caglecartoons.com), which distributes the cartoons of dozens of editorial cartoonists and columnists to more than 850 subscribing newspapers in the United States and around the world, including over half of America’s daily, paid-circulation newspapers.
Daryl is a past president of the National Cartoonists Society and the National Cartoonists Society Foundation.
Brian Fairrington is an award-winning illustrator and nationally syndicated cartoonist who has illustrated numerous books, magazines and national advertising campaigns.
A graduate of Arizona State University, he was a cartoonist for the Arizona Republic and The East Valley Tribune. He’s been nationally syndicated by Scripps Howard News Service and then Cagle Cartoons Newspaper Syndicate. Since 2012 he’s been the executive editor at Cagle Cartoons.
He’s been a regular political guest commentator on Phoenix’s PBS News Program Horizon and has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning with Bill Geist and Imus in the Morning on MSNBC. He has authored numerous books including the Best Political Cartoons of the Year series and Cartooning for Dummies by Wiley Publishing.
His awards include The John Locher Award; The Charles M. Schulz award; Two-time recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award; Scripps Howard National Journalism Award; Columbia Scholastic Press Association Awards; Arizona Press Club Award; Emmy Award- Rocky Mountain Division- Television
He has previously served as a board member for the Association of America Editorial Cartoonists and twice been a presiding judge for the Xiamen International Animation Festival in China.
